Skin Care:
Myths and Facts about Skin Hydration

One of the basic rules in skin care routine is that our complexion needs to be properly moisturized in order to be healthy, fresh and young with no wrinkles. Below, you will find some myths and facts about skin hydration:

1. Water itself will make your skin hydrated
- False -
when you finish to clean your face - pat it dry with fresh towel. If you leave your face wet, evaporating water molecules tend to ''steal'' the water from inside of your skin (to be more precise: it makes the epidermis dry). However, beauticians often suggest to moisturize the skin with a thermal water spray after cleaning the face and to remove the excessive drops with a tissue afterwards. This kind of thermal breeze is very refreshing and pleasant - why not to try it on your own? :-)

2. Skin hydration is a vital part of a skin care routine if you want to have a glowing looking skin
- True -
skin needs more and more attention proportionally to your age, because it becomes dry when we grow old.

3. Oily complexion does not need moisturizers
- Myth -
sebum secretion has little to do with skin hydration. All skin types need water, also the oily one! However, you can find cosmetics that helps to solve those two problems: moisturize and diminish sebum production, that you may like a lot if you have an oily complexion. It is also common that after intense acne cure skin becomes very dry inside, so it needs a strong hydration to regenerate. To prevent the last case - try to avoid aggressive acne cures and cosmetics based on alcohol.

4. There isn't one universal moisturizer that works for everyone and forever
- Fact -
you need to adjust moisturizing cosmetics to your actual skin needs. For example, it's good to use different creams in the summer and in the winter. Your skin needs changes also with your age (if you are 20 - you need simple and light products, while if you are 50 - it should contain also other active substances, like a-retinol or q-enzyme. You may like to ask your dermatologist, beautician or pharmacist to help you to pick up the right product for your skin needs.

5. The more you moisturize, the better it is
- False -
even in case of skin care - you shouldn't overuse some treatments. It is fairly enough to moisturize the skin twice a day (more in case of sunbathing etc). How to understand if you do not exaggerate with skin hydration? If you apply too much moisturizing cosmetics, it may happen to appear small spots and pimples around your lips, especially in case of girls with light complexion. If you notice them, apply smaller amount of hydrating cosmetic or change the one you use - it should help. However, if it repeats you should consult this kind of problem with your doctor.

Skin hydration is a vital part of a skin care routine if you want to have a beautiful and healthy skin. If you pick up the cosmetics and treatments that work well with your skin type and its actual needs (that rarely means the most expensive solutions :) ) , your complexion will be healthy and it will look great regardless of your skin type and age.
